Title: Concious Sedation Help
Post by: rup2patel on March 24, 2006, 11:38:46 PM
Hi All,
I am taking a "take home" test about moderate sedation and need some help.  I must use the internet to get answers as they provided no real study material.  There are a few questions I am not sure about, and would really appreciate the help.
1. An example of ASA III patient is
    a. Hypertension
    b. Steroid dependent asthma
    c. End stage liver disease awaiting liver transplant
    d. none of the above

2. A decrease in oxygen saturation is an EARLY sign of hypoventilation during mod sedation?
    True or False

Thank you for the help!!!

a would be ASA2 (assuming it's well controlled)
b would be ASA3
c would be ASA4

2 it's difficult this one - I find people tend to obstruct their airway before they desat but that's just me
