ET TUBE SIZE ONE NO. SMALLER THAN NORMAL/ LIGN. SPRAY /NO JELLY  WILL HELP. LMA WILL IDEAL TO PREVENT SORETHROAT.

The incidence of sore throat after

ETT intubation is 1 in 2  - 50%
LMA is 1 in 5 - 20%
Facemask is  1 in 7 - 16%

so everything has been tried and nothing works effectively

best thing to do is warn the patient pre-op to expect the throat discomfort

Hi,
Dr. Dimple, You mentioned 2 % Xylocain spray. Have you ever tried 10 % Xylocain spray available in market? It is most convinient to use and good action.
And that will only prevent cord irritation. Trachea is still sore. LMA is also painful. At times there is avulstion of palate mucosa, which gives severe pain and dysphagia.
