I am preparing a talk which will include some historical anaesthetic events.

Several years ago I recall reading an article it might have been a person's obituary or a letter to the editor:

The article detailed the events of an intraoperative explosion where ether was used, and there were several casualties.

Of interest there were at least two survivors the male anaesthetist and a female nurse who were not present in operating room at the time of the explosion.
Some nine months later the nurse delivered a healthy baby!
The implication speaks for itself.

I'm not sure but I seem to recall that the incident happened in Africa, however it might equally well have been elsewhere.

Needless to say I cannot recall where I read about this event, and have looked through my old journals and tried Google, PubMed, medline etc.
Please, does anyone out there ever recall reading or hearing about this event, is it true and perhaps someone might recall where it was printed.
Thanks
