In my hospital urologists are just starting with laparoscopic prostatectomy and it takes them at the moment an average of 8 ours operating time. One of our challenges is to keep the patient normocapnic. In patients with poor lungfunction or cardiologic problems this tends to be impossible with ETCO2 levels of 8 to 10 kPa. Accompanying acidosis makes the situation for a cardiac patient even more complicated. Has anyone similar experiences and/or suggestions.
