Title: Nurses adjusting epidural rates?
Post by: mountain man on September 26, 2006, 01:34:08 AM
Can OB nurses in your institution adjust the infusion rate of a labor epidural up or down with a physician's orders?  Or do you require the anesthesiologists to do it themselves?  There seems to be no concensus on this.

In my hospital ,Oasis Hospital Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, UAE, we train our staff that they can adjust the rate of infusion. we have standing orders written with when and how to to do as well as they always discuss with the anesthesiologist before they change the rate of infusion.
